Hello John,
I agree this could make a neat Tech Doc or Video in the Training section of our site, thanks for the suggestion. In the meantime you definitely have most of the biggies listed already.
Issue: What ACI files/folders should be backed up.
Resolution: The major folders are most likely found in C:\Program Files\ACI32\ but could be elsewhere depending on where the program was installed. They are Canisters, Configuration, Databases, Picklist, Reports, Signatures, and Templates. The file types you will most be concerned with are the .ACI and/or .ZOO files in the Reports folder, the .SIG for signatures, the .RCN for Canisters, the .ACT for Templates, and .RPS for Picklists. The Database Folders contain a myriad of database file types and are best kept intact.
How To: Your program may be installed to other folders, and your data may be redirected to other folders as well. Here's how to check where your ACI is storing it's important data. Click Start > All Programs > ACI Collection 32 > ACI System Utilities > Database Redirector. In this Redirector you will see where ACI is storing important data, and these folders are the ones to back up. More directories (such as Signatures) can be found in ACI Report's Options > Environment > File Locations.
When we're talking about data and backups it helps to have one of us in Support check this out with you, feel free to request a call or reach us at 800-274-8727. And check out my blog post on our site about the recent storms and basic backup advice!
