Do you have some quick tips on using ACI Sketch?

July 22, 2014

We sure do! Most folks know that ACI Sketch™ is the user-friendliest sketching software in the industry. What you might not know is that it also has powerful features that can save you valuable time. Here are a few of our favorites:

Quick Split

First, draw the exterior walls of the property then go back and split the area into sections. For instance, if you are drawing a house with a garage, draw the entire building and then draw a line(s) to “carve out” the attached garage. Once enclosed, ACI Sketch will automatically brand a new area. Right-mouse-click in the area to change the area properties and label (Area: New Area > Properties). Make changes and select OK.

Tracing a Floor Plan Image

Let’s say you have a floor plan of your Subject from a builder’s website or MLS listing, you can use that drawing as the base for your floor plan sketch. First, save the image you want to import as a jpeg (right-click then select Save Image As). Open ACI Sketch and right-click in the grid. Select Photometrics > Add Image and browse to the saved jpeg. Once selected, you will be prompted to draw a wall of a known length to set the scale. Then simply use the image as a guide to draw your walls. Once you’re done, right click and go to Photometrics again to remove the image from your sketch.

Field Sketching with PhoenixMobile

With your tablet or smartphone you can start a sketch in the field using the Phoenix Mobile app. Once you’re back in the office – import Phoenix data into ACI Report. Once imported you can open the drawing in ACI Sketch to finalize your work and create a polished floor plan.
