With clients asking for more images, comps, and documentation – your report file size can quickly grow to the point where it’s difficult to manage. Smart phones and digital cameras are also a culprit, with high megapixel precision creating crystal clear, but giant sized images.
Here are a few tips to help you stay on the right side of the scale when importing images and finalizing reports.
First, set your digital camera to take low-resolution photos. With the quality of today’s cameras and smart phones, even the low-res images should be appropriate quality for your appraisal report.
You can also have ACI Report handle resizing or scaling down images with the Auto-Resize feature. Go to Options > Environment > Image > Auto Resize then select a default size you would like ACI to import all images. This works regardless of how you’re importing images, so you don’t have to change your current workflow. The resize function allows you to have different settings for map and sketch pages too so the quality and aspect ratio remain the same. Reducing images to small 640×480 or medium 800×600 resolution can dramatically impact file size. Leave “Ask Before Inserting Photos” unchecked and the process will happen automatically.
