ACI Spring Cleaning
Spring has sprung and now that you’ve cleaned up the garage, it’s time to give your computer some extra attention. There are several steps you can take to improve your computer’s overall performance, including your ACI software. We’ve created a maintenance doc, so you can have a step-by-step clean-machine checklist. Here are some highlights to help get you started.
- Run ACI WebUpdate™
In order to install the latest ACI features and enhancements, we recommend that you periodically run ACI WebUpdate (2-4X per month). Just go to Help > ACI WebUpdate and click GO. This will bring your software up-to date to the latest version of ACI2012™. If you have a current support contract and are not running ACI2012, email us and we’ll follow up and get you squared away. - Run Microsoft® Updates
Microsoft provides software and security updates to Windows users through the Microsoft Windows Update utility. Some of your existing software including ACI, require several of these patches to run proficiently. Additionally, as of April 8, Windows will no longer support Windows XP so you may want to consider upgrading your OS. Find out if you’re running Windows XP here. - Defragment Your Computer
Defragmenting your computer is an important part of good PC maintenance. This process helps prevent slow speed and sluggish performance. The Disk Defragmenter tool is included in your Windows operating system. - Back-Up Your Files Using CDs, DVDs, External Hard Drives, or USBs!
On occasion clients call us after accidentally deleting important files, reports, photos, etc… To avoid this problem: be sure to back up your important files! Any back-up works; just keep a copy of your irreplaceable files in more than one place.
